Asia Pacific University ADB Scholarship 2026, Japan (Fully Funded)

Eligibility Requirements

1. Be a national of an ADB borrowing member country and a Japanese Official Development Assistance scholarship eligible country

2. Not hold dual citizenship of any developed country

Not be currently living or working outside of your home country

4. Have at least two years of full-time work experience after obtaining a bachelor’s degree at the time of application

5. Have proficiency in oral and written English communication skills to be able to pursue studies

6. Be 35 years old or less at the time of application

7. Not already be enrolled in a graduate degree program

8. In principle, not have a bachelor’s or master’s degree obtained outside of your home country

9. Not be pursuing a second master’s degree

10. Hold a bachelor's degree or its equivalent with superior academic record

11. Not be an executive director, alternate director, management, or staff of ADB, a Staff of ADB–JSP designated institutions, nor a consultant or relative of the aforementioned.

12. Agree to return and work, your home country after completion of the studies for a period of at least two (2) years after completion of the studies

13. Applicant’s family income should not exceed US$50,000 per year, and individual income should not be more than US$25,000 per year. Applicant must submit Certificate of Income if selected as a scholarship candidate.

Notes:

The initial scholarship period is one year. Extension for a second year may be granted based on the student’s academic performance at APU.

Application and Selection Process

• ADB-JDS scholarship only accepts applications for September 2026 enrollment. Please submit your application by November 12, 2025 or January 9, 2026

• APU reviews application documents and selects suitable candidates to recommend to the ADBJSP in middle of March

• Selected candidates must prepare additional documents as requested by the ADB-JSP

• Applicants selected as candidates for this scholarship are notified of their final APU application results

• The final scholarship award results are decided by ADB-JSP the end of June. Please be aware that the timing of the final scholarship result notification is subject to change depending on the circumstances of the ADB-JSP

Required Document:

• Certificate of Employment

• The certificate must be issued on the company’s letterhead/logo and signed by an authorized signatory

• If the current job is less than 2 years, also submit the certificate of employment from the previous company.

• Further details, including additional required documents, will be provided individually to those selected as candidates.

• The certificate must include the start and end dates of employment, position, and monthly or annual income. If the income is shown in local currency, convert it using the USD Conversion Form and submit both forms.
